Internet Chess Club: Where the Grandmasters Play Online Chess

#1 in the World and Russia! Chess.FM!

ICC Chess.FM is covering the World Championship match and the U.S. Championship, with the "dream team" working double shift.
The World Championship Match, after the first two games, has seen the two contestants still in a phase of study, with two interesting but rather short draws, a Grunfeld and a QGD semi-Slav. ICC asked its members to vote on who will be the new World Chess Championship, and Anand is  the favorite so far, with 71.3% of the votes.  But we all know that the Israeli "underdog" GM will fight tooth and nail, and the next games promise to be enthralling. Check below for the Chess.FM schedule. GM Alex Yermolinsky is providing analysis of all the games in the "Game Of the Day" daily video, which include the TRIVIA question, to win a 1-year subscription to the best chess magazine out there: New in Chess!

The U.S. Championship is half-way through, with GM Hikaru Nakamura imposing his superior class. In round 5 he defeated GM Gregory Kaidanov, that until then shared the lead with Hikaru. Had Gregory been able to draw Hikaru, he could have really had a shot at the US Championship Title, after his great win over Gata Kamsky in round 4.  Now, who will be able to stop CapilanoBridge? ICC Chess.FM will be on the air to comment on the games every day, and there will be TRIVIA! to win membership extensions. We are also providing the GOTD service for the U.S. Championship. If you can't be online when the games are played, don't miss your chance to watch GM Yermo's analysis of the best game of the day.

And that is not all! ICC is relaying games from the interesting Sigeman & Co 2012 Tournament. One Top 10 (Fabiano Caruana) and strong players such as Peter Leko, Anish Giri, Emanuel Berg, are playing this interesting tournament, being held in Malmo, Sweden. Caruana, after 3 rounds, is on the lead, with a convincing 2.5/3. The iron-man of modern chess keeps playing and playing, and all of us hope he won't land to the Tal Memorial in June  with a tiredness that could influence his results.

GM Larry Christiansen's "Attack with LarryC" May 16, 2012

GM Larry Christiansen is a three-time U.S. Champion and one of the most dangerous and respected attacking players of his generation. He is a feared competitor and attacker who authored two popular books that showcase his aggressive style: Storming the Barricades and Rocking the Ramparts. Each week on the show, Larry will feature various attacking motifs and themes and showing you how best to play for mate.

Today's show is: Model Games: Leningrad Nimzo-Indian

This week GM Christiansen gets back to his Model Games series, with a very interesting video on the Samish Nimzo-Indian (1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nc3 Bb4 4. a3). This opening was brought to success by German Grandmaster Friedrich Samish in the 1920's, and maintains its popularity to this day, being a notable attacking weapon against the widely used Nimzo-Indian defense: very direct, blunt, to the point and effective; White questions the Black Bishop in b4 with 4.a3, opening a lot of possibilities to the control of the center.  LarryC chooses to show us an example of the implications of this opening by illustrating a game that, in the full spirit of the Samish, is already an open battle at move 14, with tactics everywhere: White forces Black to resign at move 28, in spite of being a whole rook down!
