Today is the birthday of Grandmaster Andrey Shariyazdanov, born in Sverdlovsk, Russia,  on July 12, 1976.
A student of Melnikovsky and Lisenko, Shariyazdanov became the European under-20 champion in 1996 and participated in the Elista Olympics with Russia B in 1998.
His highest rating, reached in January 2000, was 2612 Elo points.
Shariyazdanov has defeated high-level players such as Sax, Malakhov, Korneev, Sutovsky, Balashov, and Riazantsev.
