Today is the birthday of Grandmaster Frank Holzke, born in Cologne, Germany, on July 8, 1971.
Frank, a German champion under 17 and 20, regularly competes in the Bundesliga, where he won the championship with the Porz team in 1998.
Holzke achieved his highest rating in July 2009 with 2526 Elo points. In his career, at seventeen, he defeated world champion Garry Kasparov in a simultaneous exhibition.
He also boasts prestigious victories against Giri, So, Kir. Georgiev, Krasenkow, and Hjartarson.
A law graduate and long-time administrative judge, he successfully dedicates himself to the composition of studies, a passion that surely helped him win the following endgame.
